For the last 10 years, Heineken Lagos Fashion Week has celebrated the African heritage of craftsmanship that’s creatively expressed by our designers annually in Lagos, one of Africa’s most vibrant cities. In the last few years, Heineken Lagos Fashion Week has concentrated on moving the conversation beyond creativity to add value to the industry through co-creation, collaboration and community.

African owned fashion businesses are at the forefront of shaping the future of fashion with their natural agility, in built approach to traceability and transparency that is required for fashion business(es) to survive in a post Covid world.

As we set the tone for the future of fashion on the continent, we understand the need for scalability but we are also mindful of the cost that can come with it. The future of fashion for the next decade starts with a commitment from our ecosystem to adopt a functional fashion system that delivers environmental, societal and economic solutions that’s beneficial for all with a focus on:

Building on the sector’s capacity to contribute to Africa’s economy by strengthening existing business(es)

Reemphasizing our community’s commitment to create in an ethical manner through sustainable practices with traceability, transparency and longevity as strong pillars of our creative design process

Protecting our artisans and artisanal skills across the continent as fundamental to strengthening creativity

Education, by working with key stakeholders across the continent to facilitate access to knowledge acquisition, skills / knowledge exchange and a decolonized curriculum for our schools

Technology tools for strengthening our commitment to producing and consuming fashion responsibly on the continent This sits at the core of the Heineken Lagos Fashion Week agenda going into the next decade as we deepen our commitment to the industry.

Heineken Lagos Fashion Week will return from October 27th -30th 2021. Heineken Lagos Fashion Week is supported by title sponsors, Heineken, Style House Files, Sunlight Nigeria, Fayrouz & Nigerian Export Promotion Council.
